About Imogen

Since 2021, Imogen’s World War Two fiction books have been published by Bookouture, the digital-first division of Hachette UK.

Imogen’s novels are drawn from true events, places and people in occupied Holland during World War Two.

The Girl Across the Wire Fence is about little-known Amersfoort Concentration Camp and how a local farmer’s son and his girlfriend put their lives at risk by smuggling letters and parcels past the Nazi guards to the prisoners.

The Hidden Village is based on Imogen’s discovery of an actual place in the Veluwe, Holland, where a village of underground huts had been built to shelter Jews during World War Two. The extraordinary events that took place at this spot, together with her mother’s vivid stories, inspired Imogen to write her novel.

Following the international success of The Hidden Village, Imogen wanted to explore this extraordinary story and its characters further by writing a sequel, Hidden in the Shadows. This compelling novel is the second book in Imogen’s Wartime Holland series.

The Boy in the Attic is a time-split story set in 1945 and 2001. It delves deeper into Imogen’s personal Dutch family history by taking inspiration from her mother’s extraordinary wartime stories.

The Girl from the Resistance is book one of The Dutch Girls series, based on the true story of a female resistance fighter who helped save very young Jewish children from being seized by the Nazis and sent to concentration camps.

The Girl with the Red Hair is book two of The Dutch Girls series, and is based on the true story of Hannie Schaft, a brave freedom fighter who took direct action against the Nazis to protect the lives of the innocent.

The Wartime Nurse is book three and will be published in the autumn of 2024.

The Girl Across the Wire Fence has been translated into Dutch (Het Meisje Achter Het Prikkeldraad by Uitgeverij Fontein),  Italian (La Ragazza dietro al Filo Spinato by Newton Compton Editori) and Czech (Divka za Ostnatym Dratem by Dobrovsky)
